A Message from the President
Becky Jackson, President/CEO

Dear Chamber Members:

I´m sure that if you weren´t in town the weekend of the Ostrich Festival that by now you have heard the news. We came across the storm of the season that weekend and unfortunately had to close the festival on Saturday for safety reasons. What you might not have heard was that we still went on with the parade as planned, with 35 dedicated entries and opened the festival on Sunday to incredible crowds of people. I just want to take a moment to thank all of the tireless committee members, board members and volunteers and the many sponsors that hung in there with us through the weekend. We know that we run a risk being in the event business, but working together as a team to solve problems all weekend was rewarding and reminded me of just lucky I am to have such as incredible team of staff, board members and volunteers.

So moving on now that the Ostrich Festival is over, we´re decided to take a moment and relax... okay, moment over! We´re moving right ahead into our next big project which is our Annual Awards Dinner.

This year´s festivities will take place on June 1st - I know it is still quite far away, but I hope you will mark your calendar. Last year´s event was the biggest one yet and we hope to top that again this year.

Now is your change to get directly involved in our Annual Awards Dinner by nominating a person or business for an award. We rely on you, our members, to let us know who is out there doing amazing things in our community. Think back over the past year, and try to remember which businesses and individuals really impressed you.

There are a number of categories to choose from: Chandler Cup, Chamber Cup, Small Business of the Year, Industry of the Year, Large Business of the Year, Business Diversity in Action, Community Cup, Individual Diversity Champion Award and the James R. Snedigar Public Service Award. Don´t miss the nomination form within this newsletter that details all of these awards and the requirements for each.

The Annual Awards Dinner is always a spectacular event and is such a great way to honor those individuals and business that go the extra mile to make Chandler a great place to live and work. We know a lot about what is going around the community, but with over 1,000 members, we know that you´ll do an incredible job of nominating a large variety of candidates.

Again, please take a moment to go to our website at www.chandlerchamber.com to complete a nomination form for a deserving company or person. it only takes a few minutes to fill out, but think of the honor your nominee could get by being one of the distinguished winners!
