DE-LIGHTFUL MOVE

Intercon Solutions Inc. calls itself a de-manufacturer. It recycles computer equipment for a price, and business was so good it had to move from its longtime home at 4401 W. Ogden. As of Monday, it began operating from a 300,000-square-foot facility in Chicago Heights at 1001-59 Washington.

Chief Executive Brian Brundage said the company still does business at Ogden Avenue, but he expects to sell the 140,000-square-foot building for a future strip mall. "Everything in that neighborhood is being bought up,'' he said.

Brundage lives downtown and so has lengthened his own commute, but he said he's been gratified by the reception he's gotten in Chicago Heights, which usually gets written up only for crimes and corruption. Neighboring business owners drop by to say hello, Brundage said, and residents request job applications and actually return them. "That tells me this is an area that wants to get better. They want development,'' he said.
